The Board of Architectural Review (BAR) administers the City's Historic Preservation and Architectural Design Control (ADC) Districts and Historic Conservation Districts. The main purposes of the BAR's oversight are to protect and preserve buildings and properties that serve as visible reminders of the City's heritage; to assure that new structures, additions, landscaping and related elements will be compatible with the character of the historic district and property; and to promote tourism and enhance business and industry.
The Board of Architectural Review is a nine member citizen board appointed by the City Council. The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, starting at 5:30 p.m. Applications to the board must be submitted 3 weeks prior to the day of the meeting, by 3:30 p.m.
