Charlottesville Commissioner of the Revenue office to host 2nd Annual Food and Fund Drive

The Canned Food and Fund Drive will run from February 1 through February 15.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The Second Annual Commissioners and Cans Food and Fund Drive for the Commonwealth begins February 1 and is a two week event to raise food and funds for local Area Food Banks. The City of Charlottesville Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office will begin collecting non-perishable food items for our own Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. The food will run until February 15.

Food drop-off locations: (normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

  • City Hall Lobby
  • Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office
  • City Parks and Recreation Office
  • Offices of Neighborhood Development Services

Checks made out to The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (memo: City of Charlottesville Commissioner Drive) will be accepted in the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office.

Last year the Commissioners & Cans initiative was able to raise over 4,100lbs of food and over $2,300 in the localities of Charlottesville, Essex, Hampton, Newport News, Petersburg, Portsmouth, Williamsburg, Wise, and York County. With more Commissioners of the Revenue from around the state joining the effort, we are hopeful to do much more in 2020!
