Unity Days Event: Heyer Voices Opening Workshop

Heyer Voices is a non-profit in Charlottesville whose purpose is to support young people in their pursuit of social justice and unity.  Heyer Voices supports area youth (high school juniors and seniors) to do two things:

1. Cultivate self-awareness, empowerment, and skillfulness to change the world from “the inside out.”

2. Develop and implement innovative projects using non-violent direct-action.

This workshop is the first workshop of the program for all accepted applicants. 

 

Critical Dates for the inaugural 2019 Session:

• Thursday, August 1st: Parent/Applicant Information Meeting, 7 pm to 8 pm

• Saturday, August 3rd: Parent/Applicant Information Meeting, 10 am to 11 am

(choose only one of the above meetings to attend - PLEASE RSVP)

• Tuesday August 6th: Applications and one letter of reference due (by 5:00 pm)

• Friday August 9th: Acceptance notification

• Friday, August 16th: 5:30 to 8:30 pm—opening workshop

• Saturday, August 17th: All Day, 9 am to 5 pm—workshop and project planning

• Monthly project planning meetings (2 hours each): Saturday, September 7th; Saturday, October 12th; and Saturday, November 9th…all from 10 a.m. to noon

• Saturday, December 14th is the final day-long “capstone” which will combine workshop learning, celebration of accomplishments, and future visioning
