Mission Statement:

"The Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Department provides
exceptional and creative programs, services and facilities while
preserving natural and cultural environments."

Commitment to our Customers

Why do people use Parks & Recreation facilities and participate in programs? There are many reasons, including exercise, family/friend socialization, playing and engaging in a particular activity, relaxing, learning something new and feeling the serenity of the natural environment. In summary, people come to feel good about being in a leisure setting.

Many factors are involved in making people enjoy themselves. Some factors, such as weather, are not controllable. A sincere and helpful staff member is a factor that is controllable and a major concern of our department.
