Citywide Water Main Replacement Projects

Many projects have been identified around the City that will improve the water distribution system. The projects will replace aging pipes, improve water quality, and/or increase the available fire flow. Residents in project areas will be notified prior to any construction activities. The annual services contractor is Linco, Inc.

Please contact Jason McIlwee at 970-3826 or email, should you have further questions or concerns or to find out if a project is being planned for your neighborhood.

Citywide Large Water Meter Replacement

Public Utilities or one of it's contractors will be replacing all large water meters. Some of the water meters are located in vaults that will need to be upgraded or replaced. Property owners will be notified prior to any work on their water meter or disruption to their service.

Please contact Jill Greiner at 970-3877 or email, should you have further questions or concerns or to find out if a project is being planned for your neighborhood.

The Charlottesville Dept. Public Works is replacing service lines and water mains throughout the city. The old zinc coated service lines and mains are deteriorating and are in need of repair. Some service lines are nearing 100 years old. The new service lines are copper, as seen above, and should keep the water flowing for many years to come
