Crime Mapping Online

The Crime Analysis Unit is a resource component that is available to members of the Department, other City departments, and the general public.  It assists the operational and administrative functions of the Department by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating information that can be used for preventing and suppressing criminal activities, aiding the investigative process, and increasing apprehensions and the clearance of cases.

The data contained in these reports is dynamic and may change as cases are reclassified or records expunged.  The Charlottesville Police Department does not assume any liability for decisions made or actions taken or not taken by the recipient based on the information provided in these reports.

  • Crime Mapping
Crime Mapping is a web-based application that allows citizens to view crime activity in their local community.  Using the many options and features of this website, users can search for crimes that may have occurred near a specific address, a well-known landmark or location, or within a certain geographic boundary.  Mapping also offers the ability to view reports about crime and to print a copy of the map.
  • Comprehensive Gang Assessment 2014
  • In 2014 the Charlottesville Police Department participated in a research study on local gangs as a member of the Gang Reduction through Active Community Engagement (GRACE) Task Force. The completed study can be found here
