Charlottesville Trails Fund

Community members who wish to provide financial contributions to the development and maintenance of a Citywide trail system can do so by donating to the Trails Fund.   The City is in the process of gathering legal permissions (easements) or land acquisitions for trails on private properties.   Once the permissions to build are in place, funds will be used for construction efforts.   Open trails can be improved with benches, bridges, plantings, or other appropriate items.  Your donations can be used for any or all of the above efforts to add to what the City and other agencies are putting into development of the system.

Our first donation of $3,300 from Arts 4 Bike Paths was given in April 2009 and will be used on the planned trail connecting the Belmont Bridge and the Transit Center to the Coal Tower Trail, and on to Meade Park.   The Water Street and Meade Avenue portions of that trail should be under construction in 2009.
