University of Virginia Historic District
This district was listed on the State and National Registers in 1970. This district includes the original buildings and grounds designed by Thomas Jefferson. The University of Virginia Historic District was inscribed in the World Heritage List in 1987 because of international significance. Since all University property is owned by the State, the City has no jurisdiction in this district.
