Calling Artists for the 2018 Art Bus Project

WebThe Tom Tom Founders Festival, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), and JAUNT are calling on local artists to submit concept ideas for the 2018 Art Bus Project.

Artists who are interested in submitting a concept for the 2018 project should visit the Tom Tom Founders Festival website for an entry form and official rules.  Submissions are due October 1st.

Dinosaur Wrap

Illustrator Paul Hostetler designed the 2017 Art Bus.
His dinosaur concept has drawn a lot of attention in
the Charlottesville area.

Ten semifinalists will be chosen in mid-October and will be given an opportunity to refine their design for a public unveiling in November.

The winners will be chosen by a combination vote of the Tom Tom’s Art Team, CAT, and JAUNT, AND a public voting process. The top two designs will each earn a $500 commission.

Since 2014, CAT has partnered with the Tom Tom Founders Festival to promote art in the community. To date, three artists have had their work transform city buses into moving murals.

These moving murals are placed into regular transit service allowing residents, visitors, and passengers the opportunity to enjoy colorful displays.

The mural itself is a giant removable adhesive sticker that does not damage the vehicle's underlying paint and graphics.
