Animal Control

About Us

Since February of 1982 the Animal Control Officer has been ACO Bobby Durrer.  That is 24 years (168 in dog years).  He single-handedly investigates over 1200 calls for service each year.  Animal Control has a second CSO (Community Service Officer) trained to assist Officer Durrer and do ACO duties if he is on vacation.  The CSO works the same hours (this slot is currently vacant).  Animal Control has one ACO equipped truck.

Report an Animal Control Problem

Please initiate all calls for service through ECC (911) for Emergency Animal Control incidents call 911 for Non-Emergency Animal Control incidents contact the ECC at 434-977-9041.  If the ACO is not on duty the call will be referred to him upon his return unless it is a vicious or dangerous situation in which a patrol officer will be dispatched.  The ACO follows up on calls that come in over the weekend on Mondays and Tuesdays.
