BIOGRAPHY
David E. Brown was elected to City Council and has served as Mayor from 2004 to the end of 2007.

David Brown is a native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He is a 1977 graduate of the University of Virginia (BA, History) and a 1981 graduate of Western States Chiropractic College, in Portland, Oregon. He and his wife, Jean Hiatt, returned to Charlottesville in 1982. They have two sons: Greg, attending Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and Evans, at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Brown opened a chiropractic office in Charlottesville in 1982, and has been in full-time practice ever since. He is a former member of the Virginia Board of Medicine, the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and a former president of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards. He is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.

Dr. Brown has been active in the Charlottesville community, serving on boards such as Offender Aid and Restoration, Region Ten, and the Charlottesville Track Club. He has been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He is a long-time youth soccer coach, and from 2000-2003 was the coordinator of the Soccer Outreach Program, making soccer available to children from public housing.
