The Gas Distribution operations of the Public Utilities Division is a natural gas utility owned and operated by the City of Charlottesville. We serve residents of Charlottesville and urban areas of Albemarle County.

Distribution Services: - Connection fee is only $30.00
- No gas meter or utility tapping fees
- 150 feet of gas service line installed from the street to the gas meter free of charge*
- Trouble call response within 24 hours on weekends or holidays at no extra charge
- Regular safety surveys done on meters, service lines and main lines

*Gas service lines are installed free of charge up to 150' of line with at least one qualifying appliance connection (gas range, gas water heater, gas furnace, gas dryer). Installations to supply any non-qualifying appliance will be charged at the City's current cost, including changes or modifications to the gas meter set.
