City Begins Work on Replacement of Tonsler Park Playground
Posted Date: 8/16/2012

Charlottesville Parks & Recreation staff will initiate the replacement process for the Tonsler Park playground on Monday, August 13. The process is expected to take up to 6 weeks. This effort begins with demolition of the existing equipment along with site improvements for the new playground system.

During the fall and winter of 2011-2012, City staff worked together with the community in designing a new playground system that would serve the park and the surrounding neighborhoods. Two different playground structures will be installed with one serving ages 2-5 and the other serving ages 5-12.

During the demolition and installation phases, the playground will not be available for use. Installation should be completed by September 21, 2012.
