Charlottesville : Am I a Section 3 Business?

Your business is eligible to apply for a preference as a Section 3 Business if, it meets one or more of the following criteria:

A) Fifty-one percent or more of the business is owned by Section 3 Residents; or

B) Thirty percent or more of the business’ full-time employees are Section 3 Residents, or within three years of the date of first employment with the business concern; or

C) The business can provide evidence of a firm commitment to subcontract a minimum of 25 percent of the total dollar amount of all subcontracts to a Section 3 business concern that meets one of the criteria listed above.

If you answered YES to one of the above criteria, your business is eligible for a Section 3 Preference!

*Note: a Section 3 Resident is a person living in the City of Charlottesville or the Charlottesville metropolitan area whose household income falls below HUD's established income limits. The Charlottesville metropolitan area includes Albemarle County, VA; Greene County, VA; Fluvanna County, VA; and Nelson County, VA. Preference/priority will be provided to City of Charlottesville businesses.
