Fully integrated with Google Maps, Google Transit provides easy navigation of CAT.
As many users are already comfortable using the functions on Google Maps, it is anticipated
that the association with Google Transit will make it easier for riders to plan transit trips.
This capability for CAT has been available since 2008.

Users can plan their trip on CAT from point A to point B, complete with:
- itinerary
- times
- maps
- step-by-step directions
- fares, including cost
- savings over driving
The tool also calculates walking distances and times at the beginning or conclusion of a trip as needed.
Spearheaded by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), the Google Transit initiative is a statewide project expected to raise public awareness of transit, attract new riders who take transit by choice, and drive web traffic to transit operator websites. There has been no cost to CAT or DRPT for participation in the initiative.
