Neighborhood Development Services , in
addition to its many functions including planning, zoning, engineering, and code enforcement, also acts as the building inspection office for the City. Its building inspection staff offers technical expertise in different aspects of construction. Additionally, this office monitors areas of building safety concerns.

NOTE: Some areas of the City are designated Historic Districts. Altering the exterior of a building in a Historic District requires the prior approval of the Board of Architectural Review (BAR) .
