The Charlottesville area is served by four airlines (US Airways, Delta, Northwest, and United) with direct service to New York City, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Washington, Detroit, and Philadelphia.  The area is also served by Greyhound and Amtrak.  With several major highways accommodating travelers, getting to major cities such as Washington DC, Richmond and Roanoke are less than a few hours away by car.  The city also has an award-winning bus service serving all neighborhoods and many portions of the county.
