Community Resource Launched to Support Local Recruitment

Embark Website Connects Highly Skilled Talent and Local Employers in Charlottesville-Albemarle

embark_logo_primary_1CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The UVA Dual Career Program (DCP), in collaboration with the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, UVA Licensing and Ventures Group, and the UVA Research Park, has developed Embark, an innovative solution to support talent recruitment and retention.

Just launched, Embark provides three ways for job seekers to engage: discover a connection (grow a network), realize a passion (build a career), and start an adventure (get involved in the community).

A key feature of Embark is the Employer Network, a searchable tool that will allow job seekers to find local employers of interest and follow them on social media. Nearly sixty employers have joined the Employer Network to date. Additional employers, seeking to recruit highly skilled talent to our region, are invited to complete this survey to participate.

“We support Embark’s mission because we know that when we recruit to a region, job seekers are interested in more than a singular position. They need to envision career pathways and progressions that will encourage them to relocate and stay. By showcasing the range of employment opportunities that Charlottesville offers, along with the many reasons we are committed to living and raising families here, we improve our prospects to recruit and retain top talent,” said Tobias Dengel, CEO of WillowTree.

Recognizing the need to shift the perception that there is a lack of employment opportunity for highly skilled talent in our community, the DCP began laying the foundation for Embark.

“As local businesses continue to expand, their need to hire specialized talent grows. Our talent pipeline includes hundreds of highly skilled professionals considering relocation to Charlottesville each year, including spouses/partners of UVA faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate and medical students, UVA alumni returning to the area, as well as locals seeking to advance their careers here. We are excited to create a mechanism to connect this talent with the community,” said Carolyn Kalantari, UVA Dual Career Program Director.

Embark will serve the community, foster connections, and improve the talent recruitment experience for area professionals and employers

About the UVA Dual Career Program: The DCP assists spouses and partners of UVA faculty and staff who are seeking local employment. Embark is an initiative of the DCP.
