CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Interim City Manager Mike Murphy announces the appointment of John C. Blair as Charlottesville City Attorney.
Blair, age 40, was most recently Deputy County Attorney for Albemarle County, VA. During 2013 to 2018 he represented numerous departments and commissions including the Albemarle Police and Fire Departments, Human Resources, the Planning Commission, Economic Development, and the School Board.
Blair is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. His undergraduate degree is also from the University of Virginia in History.
"John is a dedicated public servant and highly skilled lawyer, and we are looking forward to him joining our offices and serving the government and citizens of Charlottesville," said City Councilor Mike Signer.
Blair's career also includes service in Spotsylvania County as Assistant County Attorney and Deputy County Attorney, in Dinwiddie County as County Attorney, in the City of Danville as Assistant City Attorney, and in the City of Roanoke as Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney.
"I am appreciative of the opportunity to serve the citizens of Charlottesville," said Mr. Blair. "I hope to make a positive contribution to the City's governance."
Blair will start his service in the City of Charlottesville on August 15, 2018.
